Samsung Galaxy A51 – Factory Data Reset screen lock
Need
- If the device is responsive and can be powered on, the preferred reset method should be performed.
- For devices with Android™ Device Protection turned on, it’s imperative Google™ sign-in credentials are known prior to complete a factory reset with the device powered off. If credentials are unknown, do one of the following:
- Attempt to sign in with any Google account previously used on the device.
- Reset the password via the https://www.google.com/accounts/recovery website.
- Perform a factory data reset only if absolutely necessary as it removes all data including:
- Contacts
- Email accounts
- System and app data
- App settings
- Downloaded apps
- Media (Music, pictures and videos, etc.)
Notes:
- If a pattern, PIN, etc. is or has ever been set up on the device, Google account sign-in is required during initial setup.
- Wi-Fi Calling settings don’t transfer after switching devices and/or performing a factory data reset. You need to enable W-Fi Calling manually if you want to use it.
- Ensure the device is powered off.
- Simultaneously press and hold the Volume up and Power buttons until the device vibrates and the Android Recovery screen appears then release all buttons.
Allow up to 30 seconds for the recovery screen to appear. - From the Android Recovery screen, select Wipe data/factory reset.
Utilize the volume buttons to cycle through the available options and the power button to select. - Select Factory data reset.
Allow several minutes for the reboot process to complete. - Tap Reboot system now
If applicable, set up your device.

Note Alternatively, music, pictures, and videos are often protected to a computer.
Notes:
- An alternate reset method is out there if the device is unresponsive or won’t power on.
- Personal data (e.g., Wi-Fi passwords, browser bookmarks, etc.) are often protected on Google’s servers.
- If troubleshooting third-party apps, disable the automated Restore option.
- Wi-Fi Calling settings don’t transfer after switching devices and/or performing a factory data reset. you would like to enable W-Fi Calling manually if you would like to use it.
- From a Home screen, swipe up from the middle of the display to access the app’s screen.
- Note These instructions only apply to plain mode and therefore the default Home screen layout.
- Navigate: Settings Settings icon > General management General management icon > Reset.
- Tap Factory data reset.
- Review the data then tap Reset.
- Note If presented, enter the present PIN, password, or pattern.
- Tap Delete all.
- Note Allow several minutes for the factory data reset and reboot processes to finish.
- Note If applicable, found out your device.
